What Is Xeriscape Landscaping?
Lake Havasu style landscaping is called Xeriscape Landscaping.
By definition, Xeriscapes are landscapes designed specifically for areas that are susceptible to drought, or for properties where water conservation is practiced or required. Derived from the Greek xeros meaning “dry,” the term means literally “dry landscape. Here in Lake Havasu, that pretty much sums up the type of landscaping we provide. Another thing worth mentioning is “xeriscape” is pronounced with the letter Z, but Xeriscape landscaping techniques definitely don’t mean they have “zero” design aesthetics. You may be thinking cactus varieties and prickly desert plants are the only suitable option, but actually, it is quite the opposite.
Today, many landscape professionals including us here at Garitee Landscaping, refer to Xeriscape Landscaping as the practice of using every plants you want with the goal of using common-sense measures for conserving water. One of the best ways to do this is by grouping plants with similar water requirements together.
Lastly, although Lake Havasu is hospitable to a wide array of drought resistant and drought tolerant trees and plants, we are however more limited to the kinds of Xeric plants that can be used in other southwestern desert regions.
